[globalsouthdata] Upcoming launch of the “Datafication and Democracy Fund”

Dear colleagues

We would like to share with you, first hand, *the upcoming launch of the
“Datafication and Democracy Fund,” by Data Privacy Brasil, Paradigm
Initiative, and Aapti Institute*, aimed at non-profit and non-governmental
organizations in the Global South with active involvement in activities
related to politics and the defense of digital rights.

Datafication is a complex and profound process of social transformation.
Despite the Global South being strongly affected by datafication processes,
there are few resources channeled so that civil organizations in the Global
South can organize their work and influence the institutional spaces
responsible for formulating principles and standards for these new areas.

The fund aims to finance activities that strengthen the work of NGOs in the
Global South on issues of datafication and democracy, which include (but
are not limited to) research initiatives, policy analysis, advocacy, and,
in part, mission support.

The Fund

will be officially launched next Tuesday, November 28, at the Data Privacy
Global Conference. *So please wait until there to start spreading the word
in your networks.* We are sending to you here as key partners in this
process. Registration will be open until February 29, 2024, and proposals
from organizations that work with or are run by minority groups will be a
priority in the selection process. *Stay tuned to our social media channels
next week to access the form and for more details!*
