Hello everyone,

Last week, during the Data Privacy Global Conference, we announced two very
important things:

*1. GSA's new website*

Our website is finally out: https://globalsouthalliance.net/

Use it and spread the word!


*2. 2nd edition of the Datafication and Democracy Fund *
The call for submissions to the 2nd edition of the Datafication and
Democracy Fund is *open until January 30th*. The Fund will provide a total
of US$ 72,000 to support research and advocacy projects focused on
datafication and democracy to be implemented in 2026.

The Datafication and Democracy Fund supports civil society-led research and
policy projects that address the democratic challenges posed by
datafication, from digital public services to algorithmic elections and AI
governance.

The call for proposals is *open to non-profit, non-governmental
organizations based in the Global South* working on digital rights and
related public policy issues. Previously supported organizations

have
addressed topics such as online child protection, data governance in
electoral processes, biometric technologies in stadiums and large events,
mandatory biometric data collection of migrants, and discriminatory
surveillance and datafication practices.
